Profile

I first started taking pictures during my mountain biking adventures in the 1980s, using a film camera. I later shifted my focus to mountain bike racing and didn’t pick up a camera again for another 17 years.
I’ve raced bicycles from an early age, across a variety of disciplines—from BMX to road cycling, but mostly mountain biking. I competed in all three main mountain bike disciplines: cross-country, observed trials, and downhill racing. In 1998, after 12 years of racing cross-country, I decided to concentrate on downhill racing. In 2004, I reached the peak of my downhill career, finishing 1st overall in the UK national rankings. That same year, I became English, Scottish, and Regional Masters Downhill Champion.
In 2007, while recovering from a serious shoulder injury sustained in a biking accident, I was forced to take a break from cycling for at least three months. Although I could still walk, I could no longer ride, so I began going on regular countryside walks. During these walks, I started taking photos again—this time with a digital camera phone. It wasn’t long before I bought an SLR-style camera, and one thing led to another.
I have been involved in photography since 2007 and have worked as a full-time professional since 2019. I am also an experienced tour leader. Since 2018, I have led storm-chasing photography tours across America's Tornado Alley, aurora-chasing tours in Norway, and photography workshop tours in the Peak District, Lake District, and Scotland, including the Outer Hebrides.
In addition to running landscape workshops, I teach drone photography and videography, as well as timelapse photography and videography. I also offer post-processing tuition using Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom with LRTimelapse, and DaVinci Resolve. With many years of experience running workshops, I’m proud to say that over 75% of our guests return for another adventure. Please check my news pages for the latest workshop dates.
Since I started entering National and International photography competitions in 2012 I have run up a list of awards below.
